Full Moon in Aries. 09/29/2023

Tension mounts, and it yearns for release. Peace is the result of seeing tension for what it is, an opportunity for creation.

In the early hours of Friday, the Full Moon in Aries rushes through the fog and confusion of the last days to light our inner spirits on fire, to weed the stagnation out of our systems and to allow the primal howl of our needs to come through. This is a very bold and wide eyed Moon, and she arrives seemingly out of nowhere into our sleepy days.

This lunation is a point of opening the doors to the Eclipse season, she herself is too far from the Nodes of the Moon to be an Eclipse, but make no mistake she is a big part of the puzzle we are solving in the next year and a half. This is not a gentle nudge, this feels primal and very honest. The honesty of the Arian archetype is not spoken of too much, this honesty of initial reaction, ideally a response, is often regarded as naive or lacking in strategy. But honesty with ourselves, with our roaming needs and desires, with the initial purpose of it all is so needed right now.

The ruler of this lunation, Mars is in the opposite sign of Libra on its way to conjunct South Node. This Full Moon is intimately connected to our sense of being seen vs perceived by the other, and what it does to us and our goals in the long run. Relationships are essential, but the amount of power we give away not in the spirit of equality or collaboration, but in our hope to find wholeness is detrimental. This Full Moon, and the following two weeks are going to create space for us to prioritize relationships and energetic exchanges where our primal self and our howl is welcomed and encouraged.

Mars is a sharp and cutting energy, on the way to the South Node, which is about lessening or diminishing, and in the sign of relationships and diplomacy, we are bound to realize that approval and balance are grand, but creative friction and spirited exchange is what gives life to our gifts and ideas. Friction or tension should never be constant, but to surrender to these things in our creative process and our relationships when time calls for it, will enrich and expand the path forward. Learning when tension turns into toxicity and stagnation is as important.

Compromise and balance are beautiful aspirations, they are essential to aim for, but it is friction and opposition that creates the breakthroughs and cleares spaces for the new life to take root. Sometimes we arrive at this friction that breaks the dam on our own, and sometimes there is another. There is something so electric about the outrageousness with which we can show up, the scales of harmony require this tension to be lived through and to be expressed, peace follows when we meet friction, not avoid it.

On the same day as Moon comes into her fullness, Venus in Leo is forming her last square to Uranus in Taurus. What have we learnt about the virtues of creative audacity? How have we reconstructed the balance between our stability and our self expression? The ultimate lessons of this transit together with the Full Moon in Aries, is that holding on to the familiar ways won’t provide us with safety or satisfaction. We have to choose our battles wisely, but we do have to choose. As Mars is sextiling Venus in Leo, the only way to peace is through audacious choice. Happy Full Moon, Lovers.
